A commercial bar is a popular place to be in today. Other than a great spot to enjoy alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, bars are also an ideal place to socialize and get the latest buzz on a wide variety of topics.
Most cities worldwide have bars in existence. This commercial establishment has in fact become one of the top entertainment and tourist spots that any urban center can offer to its visitors. Some restaurants also have a bar area separate from the main dining space where the atmosphere is rather more formal compared to the commercial and sports bars which promote a more casual ambiance.
Counter Stools
But what makes a bar a bar? Normally, a commercial bar or any bar for that matter features a high counter, taller than the usual table and with high stools or chairs as well on the exterior part. Bars can be of any shape - a long straight one, a square or rectangular type or a semi circular one. The designs and styles today are endless and have become more advanced as well.
Typically, bars are made from wood. But while many commercial areas still use the material, others have gone modern in style and design using other materials such as metal especially stainless steel or a combination of wood and another material.
Today, a distinct fixture attached to most bars that many of you have surely seen are the foot rails. These foot rails are the long tubing installed at the lower part of the bar structure to provide a resting place for the feet. This fixture surrounds the entire bar area so that people sitting and standing around it can have something to place their feet on. It's an added functionality to the bar plus a comfort fixture for the feet.
Foot rails come in various materials and shapes as well. There's the classic wood and the modern metals ranging from the stainless steel to the brass tubing. These foot rails are the long poles or tubing you see attached to the lower part of the bar with brackets in between to provide support. The tubing nowadays also come in the circular and square shapes with even decorative brackets and end caps.
If you opt for the metal foot rail, a great design tip is to complement it with metal stools or those that use metal stands although the seat area may be made from a different material. Depending on your preference, the bar stools or chairs can be padded or not in the seating portion. They can also be the permanent type or the swivel and adjustable stools with or without the back rest.
Another option is to choose between the metal stool with just one stand and those with four stands. With swivel stools, people sitting at the bar area can turn to whatever direction they like without having to stand up and adjust the position of their stool.
Normally, these high stools have a foot rest area in the lower portion. However, it is still a good idea to install foot rails on the bar area for added comfort to guests who frequent the commercial establishment.
